Under the shield generator in the Castellum Stronghold, Azreal calls a meeting of the inner circle...

Apocalypse of Umbral Void: The Battle of the Hive from Hell

Image
The marine/tau army featured Tau fire support with tanks and four Riptides in the back. The guard brought four Leman Russ tanks in the back. The marine contingent was several three man squads of grav armed bikers, melta armed Land Speeders and I think five? Drop podding dual-melta contempt or dreads. Also appearing was a land raider packed with 20 marines led by the dreaded primarch of the Emperors Children. Additionally, their team fielded an immobilized bane blade as a campaign bonus. The Necron/Ork/Mechanicum force was much more eclectic. Each general brought a Superheavy to the table just for the heck of it, so Ghazhkull's personal bane blade (containing of course a mob of Meganobz and the Big Boss Himself) and a Necron Transcendant C'tan. Beyond that it was a mess of transports, tanks, infantry and bikers.

Campaign of Umbral Void: Defense of Killjar Generator

Image
At the southern tip of the Killjar mountains, Chief Librarian Ezekiel, has been overseeing the construction of the Castellum Stronghold around the Void Shield Generator in the area. Enjoying a brief moment respite after the construction, the speaker system, sounds suddenly throughout the base... The Ad Mech alliance unleashes seven S 9, Ap3 attacks, collapsing all shield generators, destroying all but one devastator on the shield gen, and destroying an emplaced lascanon.

The Campaign for Umbral Void has begun!

Image
They came from far and wide, the myriad races of the galaxy, their invasion was swift and quickly they claimed their territory. Then then after the landing craft departed the generals began their assaults... The first week only empty spaces could be claimed, as we all got to try out the planet strike rules.

Escalation vs. Necrons

Image
This was my first experiment with Escalation or 40k with super heavies. A word on escalation/ stronghold assault rules in case you dont know by now there are several unique rules that change the game. but the most important of these are Void shields, and str D weapons. Void shields act as a 12" av 12 bubble which can be taken for every fortification and an option of 3 for a void shield generator. the generator itself is an av 13 building. One shield  bubble disappears with a pen or a glance, and a disabled shield can be regen'd on a 5+. It also may absorb a single str D shot. Str D weapon can be found on some models and doesn't allow saves of any kind including invul saves. it has special interactions with super heavy models depending on the result of the vehicle damage table roll meaning that it may take away as many as D6 + 6 HP with a single shot with rolling a 6.

Enemies of the Imperium Tactica: Necrons

When fighting necrons there are several things to keep in mind. the most important is to understand their rules. They have quite a few that can be troubling, Weapons systems - Necrons have two types of weapons for their infantry. Gauss and Tesla. Gauss is a strength 5 24" rapid fire weapon, but when shooting at vehicles on the roll of a six, the vehicle takes a glancing hit. This means that at short range vehicles can get really beat up. Tesla is strength 6 and on a roll to hit of six, the weapon gets an extra chance to hit. Making it extremely powerful versus infantry, but it too has very short range of 24". Necrons are undead space skeletons so naturally when you shoot them they can get back up. Enter the We'll be back rule. On a 5+ any model killed with this rule can be returned to the unit it was taken from. However often an overlord (an indepent Ch. for necrons) will be equipped with a "Resurrection orb", changing this to a 4+ and increasing the durabi...

The Malacant Device

Image
Communique to the 389th Regent of Terran interstellar anomalies Regent Liberius: The ongoing warpstorm of Galleus system, has recently subsided long enough for us to reestablish contact with the the planet Axos, an agri-world, reclaimed in m32.679. Warp winds have ravaged the planet and while there is no evidence of demon taint, warp tessera was found near at the following coodinates 67*34'21"N,127* 77' 45"W. Preliminary investigation by the local Axos research council has  digitally indexed it and claim it to be greater than 70millenia old. This dating places it firmly in the frame of eldar, necron, or possibly  "Old One" tech. The head of the research of Axos call it, "the Malacant Device." Not much else is known about this, however its power signature spiked on the readout and produced a halyon level of 64 million units. This fact alone is enough to peak my interest. The IPD (inter-planetary defense) forces are minimal and the planetary go...
