Prelude to Apocalypse on Cypra Mundi
Brothers of the Inner Circle,
Due to the recent rapid pace of developments on the ground the Chapter Serfs have not yet had a full chance to catalouge all reports by the librarius on the Campaign. I will now brief you all while we travel the warp.
We currently travel to the Forge World of Cypra Mundi which has been attacked by forces of Chaos.
We believe that it is their intention to attempt to use the Mechanicus engines of Rasputin Forge on the planet to reinforce Abbadon's Forces and to cut off reinforcement of the Imperial Fleet in this sector. If chaos are sucessful in this attack they will strike a hammer blow against this sector as Cypra Mundi is the central reinforcement point of the imperial Fleet in this sector and is a staging point for every major defense of Cadia and the surrounding systems. The loss of this planet and its importance can not be overstated.
While in transit we have recieved an astropathic distress call from Cypra Mundi, requesting aid from attacks by traitor Astartes and Demonic incursion into realspace. It is possible due to the close proximity of the Death marines on the planet Gordium that their psychic relay also recieved the distress call.
Of course we also follow the Warbands led by Bolivox and Ekynius of the Death Guard and Koros Warsmith of the Iron warriors. It is clear that they are in possesion of one of the Fallen. At this point we believe that fallen goes by the name of Mendicant. Records indicate that he was an tactical marine of the 8th company command squad of the legion, and known as Brother Hypolytus, but we will need his DNA smaple to confirm this theory.
Our route to capture all the Fallen on this journey have been gleaned from the cogitators recovered on Gordium and has been circuitous. The Gordium Campaign has been fraught with peril but thus far we have covered ourselves in glory.
Beginning at Gordium with the initial encounter and recovery of the cogitators, we then made our way to Purgatory where we captured the Fallen Terrigrax after battling the demonspawn that had infested the planet.
Further decoding of the cogitators lead us to the planet Ix where Sammael made planetfall at Orlansk. Belial was then enlisted to rout the defenders at the mountain outpost of Altlas, and to push on to the rebels' polar Fortress of Gastongen. Sammael and ravenwing elements were on route to scout andvprovide intelligence on Fortress Gastogen but were ambushed by an outpouring of demons at the Tungguska Galcier. By the time the rest of the Force caught up with him this was all we found at Gastongen:
After breaking through the defenders intelligence was gained showing that the enitire planet had been a staging point for the invasion of Cypra Mundi and all haste was made to return to the orbiting starships.
As many of you know, Abbadon the despolier has begun to lay siege once more to the Fortress world of Cadia. It is possible that this is a misdirection to reduce the strength of the defense on Cadia which would surely benefit from our presence. We are now faced with a choice do we continue this quest, aid the Forge World to recapture the Rasputin Engines or turn from it and instead aid Cadia? Yes, Grandmaster Azreal?"
"The 4th Company led by Company Master Indomiel will continue to on to Cypra Mundi along with a contingent of ravenwing and deathwing and Masters Sammael and Belial. while the 3rd and 5th will head to Cadia to aid of the defense of that planet. I have already sent instruction on this, now, Huntsmaster, tell us what we face on Cypra Mundi?"
"Indeed Lord. Allow me to explain the layout of the ForgeWorld and where we shall likely enjoin battle...."
